Paul M. Jackson, principal of Scotlandville Magnet High School in Baton Rouge, LA, has been named the 2024-2025 Magnet Schools of America Region 5 Principal of the Year. A transformative leader with over 21 years in education, Jackson has propelled Scotlandville to new heights through innovative programming, rigorous academic pathways, and strong industry partnerships.

Under Jackson’s leadership, Scotlandville’s magnet programs in Engineering, Business/Entrepreneurship, and Government Affairs/Law have expanded significantly. He has championed the growth of early college programs, providing students with opportunities to earn college credits and gain real-world experience before graduation. His commitment to workforce readiness has also led to increased internship placements, connecting students with local businesses and government agencies to build practical skills.

A believer in cross-curricular learning, Jackson has integrated STEM principles into every aspect of the school’s magnet themes. His support for professional development ensures that teachers are equipped with the tools to provide rigorous, hands-on learning experiences. His leadership in school culture has also been impactful, fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion through mentorship programs and student-led initiatives.
