Suzanne Luzzi, principal of Jungman STEM Magnet School in Chicago, IL, has been recognized as the 2024-2025 Magnet Schools of America Region 6 Principal of the Year. A visionary leader, Luzzi has transformed Jungman from a school facing closure into a thriving STEM magnet program, providing students with hands-on learning experiences that foster critical thinking, creativity, and leadership.

Under her guidance, Jungman’s STEM curriculum now includes innovative programs such as marine biology labs, 3D printing, robotics, and student-designed electives. Through partnerships with local businesses and universities, she has expanded real-world learning opportunities, ensuring that students gain both academic and career-focused skills.

Luzzi is committed to equity and inclusion, implementing data-driven instruction, culturally responsive teaching, and recruitment efforts that reflect the diversity of the Pilsen community. Her leadership has led to increased student achievement, with significant gains in math, reading, and science across all demographics.
