How You Can Celebrate National Magnet School Month

Magnet Schools of America is proud to announce that this week begins the annual celebration of National magnet School Month. Please help us raise awareness throughout February. There are many ways for you to participate and get involved!

Be sure to download a copy of the Magnet School Month logo and post it on your school website, and highlight it on social media using #MagnetSchoolMonth. You can also use it in your marketing and event materials.

This year, we have also created a Magnet School Month Digital Toolkit that you can use to spread the word. The Digital Toolkit includes more images for your use, suggested social posts, and a sample press release.

If you haven’t already, download the 2021 Magnet School Month Proclamation and have your state and school district adopt it. Contact your governor’s office, state legislators, and your school board members and ask them to pledge their support.

Students at the Hammond Magnet High School located in the Tangipahoa School District in Louisiana show off their National Magnet School Month spirit!

WEEK 1 - Awareness Week (February 1-6)

Help us create excitement for National Magnet School Month by sending out press releases, writing blogs, posting messages on Facebook and Twitter, writing letters to the editor, and contacting your local media outlets. Use our Magnet School Month Digital Toolkit to help you craft those messages.

On social media be sure to use the hashtag: #MagnetSchoolMonth

WEEK 2 - Student Highlights

Feature your amazing students! Share their projects and performances. Tag #MagnetSchoolMonth so we can amplify! Get testimonials from students and parents:

  • What drew them to your program?
  • What has Magnet done for them?
  • What surprised them about Magnet?

WEEK 3 - Virtual Engagement

The 2020-21 academic year is a challenging one, but we still need to engage with the community and federal, state, and local elected officials. In a time of social distancing, how are you sharing insight and information about your magnet programs? Are you doing virtual tours, or information sessions? Reaching out on social media, or neighborhood groups and lists?

WEEK 4 - Show Your Appreciation Week

MSA President Sara Wheeler welcomes Congressman Joe Wilson to one of her district’s magnet schools.

Finish National Magnet School Month by taking time to show appreciation for the people that make your magnet school a success. Think of creative ways to say thank you to your principals, teachers, magnet coordinators, and staff.

We are very excited to begin this month long celebration of our nation’s magnet schools and hope you will join us!
