2026 Regional Director (II, IV, VI) Candidates

This year, members of Magnet Schools of America (MSA) will elect a Regional Director for Regions II, IV, and VI to serve on the board for the next two years.

REGION II CANDIDATES

Anne Maschler

As a magnet school principal and co-founder, I care deeply about creating schools where all students feel seen, challenged, and supported. I build authentic partnerships, communicate with clarity, and elevate strong practice. I am committed to strengthening regional connections and supporting members across Magnet Schools of America.

Kade Sochor

With over a decade of magnet school experience, proven leadership, and a commitment to excellence, I bring a collaborative and advocacy-driven approach to advancing magnet education. Having served as the Region II Director for the past two years, I am dedicated to representing Region II members and supporting Magnet Schools of America’s mission.

REGION IV CANDIDATE

Barbara Turner

As the current Region IV Director, I bring a proven commitment to educational equity, innovative leadership, and collaboration. Over the past two years, I have championed magnet excellence and will continue advocating for the unique needs of Region IV schools while ensuring the support necessary for continued success.

REGION VI CANDIDATE

Scott Thomas

Scott Thomas seeks to represent Region VI on the MSA Board of Directors, leveraging two decades of magnet experience as a former Executive Director and principal. He is committed to being an outsized, powerful voice for the region with the fewest magnet schools, expanding opportunities, and strengthening local networks. Dr. Thomas promises direct support on legislative issues and school leadership coaching, while also improving the Awards program and enhancing tangible member value within MSA.
