Open Board Positions: Magnet Schools of America is accepting applications and letters of interest for election to the Board of Directors for 2026-2028. Individuals winning election shall assume office on the first day of the first month following the conclusion of the National Conference on Magnet Schools.
*Interested candidates must currently serve on the Board of Directors and must have completed a term of at least two full years as of May 1, 2026.
The President shall preside at the Annual Business Meeting and all meetings of the Board of Directors. The Executive Committee members shall be invited to participate in all committees and project work group meetings as they are able. The President shall be an ex-officio member of all committees and shall perform all other duties pertaining to this office, as appropriate to the Mission and Pillars of Magnet Schools of America.
The President-Elect shall, in the absence of the President, perform the responsibilities of the President; he/she shall assume office on the first day of the first month following the conclusion of the National Conference on Magnet Schools. The President-Elect assumes the office of President two years later.
Specialized Directors. Up to two (2) specialized directors shall be appointed by the President, with the approval of the Executive Committee and voted on by the board in accordance with Article VII, Section 1. Two (2) specialized directors shall be elected by the MSA membership.
Interested candidates for both positions must be members of MSA and are requested to submit an application to Ramin Taheri, CEO, Magnet Schools of America by 5pm ET, Friday, January 9, 2026. Successful candidates will be notified by February 9, 2026, and announced to the membership and installed into office by the CEO of Magnet Schools of America at the business meeting held at MSA’s annual National Conference on Magnet Schools. All positions are for a two-year term (May 1, 2026-Spring, 2028). Those elected must register for the 2026 National Conference on Magnet Schools in San Diego, California, and attend the business meeting at that conference.
The Board of Directors meets three (3) times a year (with at least two (2) in-person meetings, including the national conference). Board members are expected to attend all meetings (with reimbursement allowable). The President may call additional meetings as needed to conduct the business of the organization.
President, President-Elect and Specialized Directors (2) will be elected electronically using an online ballot. The web site address and the instructions for voting will be provided to the membership via email. Voting will take place from January 26, 2026 through February 6, 2026.
