KELLY WEBB

Magnet Schools of America is proud to recognize Kelly Webb, a dedicated educator at Palm Harbor University High School in Pinellas County Schools, as the Region III Teacher of the Year. A leader in the school’s Center for Wellness and Medical Professions magnet program, Webb has spent more than a decade inspiring students to explore careers in healthcare through rigorous coursework, hands-on learning, and meaningful community partnerships. Her teaching philosophy centers on a powerful idea: to inspire students by creating learning environments where curiosity, collaboration, and confidence flourish.

Webb’s classroom blends innovation with real-world application. Through the Project Lead The Way Biomedical Science curriculum and advanced STEM technologies—including virtual reality, the Anatomage Table, and patient simulation manikins—students engage in authentic medical scenarios that mirror professional practice. Whether conducting full-body fitness assessments, analyzing medical case studies, or participating in telehealth simulations, students develop both technical knowledge and the critical thinking skills needed for future healthcare careers. These immersive experiences help students see the real-world impact of their learning while building confidence and problem-solving abilities.

Equity and representation are central to Webb’s approach. She intentionally designs lessons with multiple entry points so students of all backgrounds and learning styles can succeed. Collaborative lab work, peer mentoring, and culturally responsive instruction ensure that every student’s voice is valued. Webb also actively encourages students—particularly those historically underrepresented in STEM and healthcare—to pursue leadership opportunities through organizations such as HOSA–Future Health Professionals and the National Technical Honor Society. Her work empowers students not only to master complex scientific concepts but also to see themselves as future leaders in medicine and science.

Beyond the classroom, Webb has built strong connections between the magnet program and the broader community. Through partnerships with healthcare organizations, colleges, and local professionals, students gain opportunities for job shadowing, mentorship, and real-world learning experiences that prepare them for college and career pathways. Community partners consistently note how prepared, professional, and motivated Webb’s students are—clear evidence of her mentorship and dedication. As one parent wrote in a letter of recommendation, Webb’s influence inspires students not only academically but personally, instilling confidence, resilience, and a lasting love of learning. Her impact reflects the very best of magnet education.
