Launching Dreams into Orbit with MDCPS’ SpaceHUB

Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS) is reaching for the stars with SpaceHUB—a groundbreaking, first-of-its-kind aerospace mega-magnet program designed to build the ultimate STEM pipeline!

SpaceHUB originally launched at Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High School (HML), pioneering a hands-on curriculum designed for future industry leaders. The program has since expanded to Booker T. Washington Senior High School, giving students across both campuses real-world experience in electrical systems, science & design, robotics, engineering, and coding.

The standout feature? Both schools house fully operational, upgraded planetariums right on campus. These immersive domes serve as dynamic visual labs, allowing students to step directly from high-tech coursework into deep-space observation—taking their astronomical studies to incredible new heights.

By seamlessly blending high-demand technical skills with dedicated planetariums, SpaceHUB offers a high-octane blueprint for modern magnet education—starting at HML, growing to Booker T. Washington, and inspiring the next generation of engineers, coders, and space explorers to shoot for the cosmos!
