Kelly Bucherie

Over the past decade, Kelly Bucherie has dedicated her career to advancing the mission of the National Institute for Magnet School Leadership (NIMSL) and supporting Magnet Schools of America (MSA). From humble beginnings as a solo operator, Kelly’s leadership has nurtured a team of 25 proficient magnet specialists who now extend their expertise to schools and districts nationwide.

In her role as Assistant Superintendent/Academic Manager, Kelly oversaw a broad spectrum of responsibilities within the Clark County School District in Las Vegas, Nevada. This included supervising and coordinating the operational facets, program protocols, processes, and public relations initiatives for Magnet Schools, Career and Technical Academies, and the College of Southern Nevada High School campuses. Furthermore, she provided guidance for the Department of Magnet and Career and Technical Academies, managed open enrollment procedures, facilitated flexible budgeting for autonomous schools, spearheaded middle school curriculum initiatives, and facilitated the planning and implementation of National Academies Foundation year of planning (YOP) schools. She notably served as the project manager for a Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) federal grant, overseeing its successful implementation and the establishment of multiple magnet programs.

Kelly also lent her expertise as a consultant to the Public Education Foundation of Las Vegas, particularly in the Executive Leadership Institute, where she focused on enhancing administrative capabilities among principals statewide. Additionally, she collaborated with the State’s Regional Professional Development Program to deliver Nevada Educator’s Performance Framework training to district administrators and educators.

Drawing from her extensive experience as a member of numerous NIMSL projects, Kelly has provided invaluable consultation to districts, offering program evaluations and crafting actionable plans for improvement for new and reinvigorated magnet schools and programs.
