Caroline Massengill is Past President of Magnet Schools of America and served as Senior Director of Magnet Programs in the Wake County Public School System in Raleigh, North Carolina for eight years. During her 32 years of service in education she worked as a Special Assistant for Year-Round Education and was the first principal of a year-round magnet school in the United States.
Under her direction, three schools in Wake County were recognized by Magnet Schools of America with the Simpson Magnet School of Merit Award, the highest award given to a magnet school in the United States.
