Dr. Beth Cochran

With five years of MSAP grant management experience with Wake County magnet schools, and another four to go, Beth Cochran has extensive knowledge regarding MSAP grants, winning MSA Merit Awards of Excellence and Distinction, receiving National Magnet Certification and increasing, and maintaining, diversity goals of the magnet schools with which she works.

Beth participated in the certification pilot program and supported nine schools in receiving Magnet National Certification Schools for Standards of Excellence. Her experience includes her district receiving 20-30 Merit Awards of Excellence and Distinction yearly. Her district is also a six-time recipient of the Ronald P. Simpson Distinguished Merit Award .

In Wake County, she initiated the conversion of 10 traditional schools to magnet schools and significantly revised the themes of seven magnet schools. Beth’s on-going review of magnet selection priorities includes that of meeting diversity goals. Beth has served as a consultant to MSA via the Louisville, Kentucky, Charlotte, North Carolina and Greensboro, North Carolina review teams. As principal of Enloe Magnet High School, Beth increased magnet applications at the premier magnet high school in the district, created a Minority Student Success Summit for teachers, community members, students and parents while increasing the diversity of faculty and staff at Enloe. In addition, she initiated the YWCA racial justice study circles.

Beth attended North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC and holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership.
