Art Arpin is the former principal and International Baccalaureate Coordinator of the Connecticut IB Academy (CIBA) in East Hartford, CT. CIBA is a magnet school that features an IB Diploma Program and has a student population that comes from many towns in the greater Hartford region.
Throughout his eight-year tenure as principal, CIBA was named a National Blue Ribbon School, and was recognized by the Magnet Schools of America (MSA) as a Magnet School of Merit for five consecutive years from 2009 to 2013. In 2012, Mr. Arpin was named MSA Region 1 Principal of the Year.
Prior to becoming principal at CIBA, Mr. Arpin was an assistant principal at Hamden (CT) High School and Seymour (CT) High School. He taught Spanish in the Connecticut towns of Colchester and Milford, as well as Auburn, MA. His experiences in these many diverse environments prepared him to be a part of the success story that the students at CIBA represent.
As a member of the MSA Board of Directors, Mr. Arpin serves as chair of the Regional Directors Project Work Group and a member of the Certification Project Work Group.
Mr. Arpin is the Past President of the Guild of IB Schools of the Northeast (GIBS), an association of IB World Schools which serves schools in New England, New York, New Jersey, and eastern Pennsylvania. He serves on the Connecticut State Council for the ACT as its Past Chair.
Mr. Arpin is a graduate of Framingham (MA) State College, and received his Masters of Science and sixth year degree from Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, CT.
