Open Board Positions: Magnet Schools of America (MSA) is accepting applications and letters of interest for election to the Board of Directors for 2025-2027. The open positions are for:
Regional Directors: Regions I, III, and V:
Region I: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and The District of Columbia
Region III: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Puerto Rico, and Virgin Islands
Region V: Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas
Application Process:
Interested candidates must be members of MSA and are requested to email a letter of interest to Ramin Taheri, Chief Executive Officer, Magnet Schools of America, to be received by Friday, March 21, 2025, 5pm EASTERN. Candidates are required to submit the following as part of their application, and for publication on the MSA website:
Election Process:
Voting will occur during the regional meetings at the conference, to take place on Wednesday, April 9th or Thursday, April 10th. All candidates will be asked to present for 2-3 minutes on why they should be elected. Those elected will be asked to attend the annual business meeting on Thursday, April 10th for the installation of all Board members.
We will be doing prep calls to rehearse, and we will communicate the days and times for those prep calls at the end of March.
Term of Office and Board Member Requirements:
All positions are for a two-year term (May 1, 2025-Spring, 2027). All candidates must be members in good standing of Magnet Schools of America. This means dues must be current.
Board members are required to attend three (3) meetings each year, often held in conjunction with MSA conferences. Board members are encouraged to attend each conference.

REGIONAL DIRECTOR
The Regional Director serves as the regional contact for all members and non‐members in a geographic area, as specified by the breakdown of Magnet Schools of America’s six (6) regions.
Time & Commitment
For attendance of the three meetings mentioned above, Board members are reimbursed only for the Board meeting portion of their travel, and as follows: if they have paid more than 50% of meeting costs from personal funds (that are not otherwise reimbursed), they will be reimbursed by MSA up to $1,000 of the personal funds.
