In 2014, Lucilla Davila was the first Latina to be named as Associate Superintendent of Magnet Schools in Minneapolis Public Schools. She has been in education for over 22 years and is a strong advocate for Immersion programming, English Learners, Innovation and garnering partnerships that accelerate student learning.
Ms. Davila is from San Juan, Puerto Rico and has taught in the public school system in Puerto Rico, St. Paul Public Schools as well as in the charter school sector. Prior to her being presently the associate superintendent of magnet schools, Ms. Davila was the former principal at Windom Spanish Dual Immersion School for five years, closing the achievement gap two consecutive years.
In addition, Ms. Davila is skilled in working with non-profit organizations and is a visionary leader in areas of ELL, Designing Magnet Programming, Cultural Relevance trainings, Immersion frameworks and introducing high lever strategies for all learners in the state of Minnesota such as GLAD (Guided Language Acquisition Design).
Ms. Davila is a graduate from the University of Minnesota and holds a superintendent’s license with coursework from Mankato State University.
