Caroline Massengill is Past President of Magnet Schools of America and served as Senior Director of Magnet Programs in the Wake County Public School System in Raleigh, North Carolina for eight years. During her 32 years of service in education in she worked as a Special Assistant for Year-Round Education and was the first principal of a year-round magnet school in the United States.
Under her direction, three schools in Wake County were recognized by Magnet Schools of America with the Simpson Magnet School of Merit Award, the highest award given to a magnet school in the United States.
Currently, Ms. Massengill works as an education consultant and recently worked with two districts as they prepared their Magnet Schools Assistance Program grant applications. In addition, she assists school districts with magnet school issues providing information about magnet themes, student assignment issues, marketing and recruiting plans, and professional development plans.
